Uptime LOCATE is a software application developed for a product validation process leading to reliability demonstration.

Uptime LOCATE™ supports the product validation with respect to the expected product usage and any relevant boundary conditions as quantified by reliability targets. The expected market volume and the warranty strategy are integrated. Advanced model based analytics applied to data in Uptime LOCATE™ provide key indicators on achievements of or conflicts in reliability targets for large and decentralised product development teams.

Uptime LOCATE™ provides a single tool for the planning, execution and monitoring of product validation processes alongside product development taking into account reliability requirements. Common validation of product variants for various markets and diverse operation modes are supported in Uptime LOCATE™. Introducing Uptime LOCATE™ creates a consistent and transparent basis for decision taking on product validation activities.

Uptime LOCATE™ allows for the integration of risk-related test design(s) with respect to customer duty cycles and targets. Moreover, the integration of supplier contributions to component maturity demonstration is possible. This leads to a broader risk assessment. Uptime LOCATE™ offers the option to also create a knowledge base on failure mechanisms. Additionally, scenario evaluations for assessment of technical changes to a product or changes in product requirements can be run with Uptime LOCATE™.

For the efficient management of the quantitative product validation process various KPIs, spreadsheets, drill-down GUIs are available in Uptime LOCATE™ and the achievement of final targets can be controlled. For reporting purposes a common project reporting is available.


Uptime LOCATE™ simplifies the life of a product development team that is seeking to integrate product requirements, verification and test steps and tasks into their product validation process. The software provides the product development team with a common platform to efficiently plan the product development process to uncover any potentially missing elements. A careful planning also requires the definition of duration of tasks, milestones (e.g. Q-gates), targets, sequences of activities, responsibilities and the allocation of tasks.

Based on Uptime’s extensive experience with product development process design methods are applied to uncover the potential joint development between OEM and suppliers.


Once the planning phase for the product validation process has been completed Uptime LOCATE™ serves as a tracking tool for the product development team for the execution of the product validation process. Team members report back on the progress of the allocated tasks in Uptime LOCATE™ for documentation purposes. Thus, Uptime LOCATE™ provides at all times transparency on the current status and the history of the product validation process for the entire product development team. Reliability conflicts are uncovered and can subsequently be solved, achieved targets are logged and reliability can be demonstrated in a quantitative manner.

Uptime LOCATE™ also provides an efficient tool for the evaluation of expected failure rates (projected reliability) through consideration of technical expertise, production risks, time lines and organisational aspects. A cost / benefit analysis can be conducted where the commercial advantages of an improved forecasting of failure probabilities can be compared to extra costs related to the additional effort required for the improved forecasting.
